One World Film Project Reflection

For the One Word Film project, we were challenged to create a one-minute film based on a random word drawn from a hat with a partner. The goal was to visually represent the emotion of that word using what we learned about camera angles, shot types, and editing techniques without any audio.

Once we got our word, we began brainstorming ideas that could express the feeling or concept behind it. I wrote down potential scenarios and shots that came to mind that would fit our story. Storyboarding was also an important step in planning out the film. It allowed us to plan each shot, think through transitions, and make sure our word was consistently represented through our story before filming the scenes. Once we started filming, we already had a plan for what would be shown in our shots and how they would be filmed..This saved time and made the process smoother since we already knew what to do as we shot scenes, as well as giving us more time to focus on smaller details.

For editing, we utilized Adobe Express to put together our film. We used cuts and POV cuts to aid in telling our story, and removed the audio from all the clips.

I think my Partner and I came up with a good story to represent our word, and I liked our use of different shot types to focus on specific items like the car keys and school ID in the film. However, I'd like to have better camera movement and more advanced transitions between shots in future projects.
